Starting out as Fowler, Goedecke & Co. in 1974 in Boston, the company has grown into one of the industry’s largest financial intermediaries through a series of acquisitions and partnerships. Since 1998 when it took on the Holliday Fenoglio Fowler name, the company has closed on $202.5 billion in transactions through more than 260 different investors each year. Continuing its evolution, HFF has added businesses such as HFF Securities, its investment banking affiliate, and in early 2007 became a publicly traded company. The firm specializes in debt placement, investment sales, structured finance, private equity and corporate finance, note sales and note sale advisory and loan servicing. Over the past year, most of HFF’s deals have been in the office space (33%).
